Meditation Techniques

The number of meditation techniques available to novice and experienced meditator are endless. Due to the nature of the Center for Meditation being a user friendly, sharing enviornment, you will find among our many articles and intructors, meditation techniques that will best fit your experience and temprement level. Guided Meditation


Guided meditation is typically done as the meditator listens to a recording of an instructor who takes the student through the steps that become the meditation. This is a very effective method for the beginner meditator. Our free guided meditation instruction is available here.

Breath Meditation

One of the oldest and most well known meditation techniques is that of followed breath meditation. There are many different variations of this excercise, but the basic premise is to be mindful of your breath. Some excercises ask you to follow your breathing pattern throughout your body and imagine different breath routes. For more information about this free course go here.

Transcendental Meditation


Transcendental meditation is also known by some as mantra meditation. As the meditator repeats a mantra and becomes solely focused on the mantra other thoughts beome absent and the mind clears. Specific mantras that are best suited to each individual are given to each practitioner of this type of mediation in order to best facilitate their specific meditation needs. Entrainment Meditation

Entrainment mediation was made popular in the last few years as a way to develop good mediation habits as a compliment to more traditional methods. This a very effective tool, though on its' own it can leave the practitioner longing for a more complete dicsipline. Click here for recommended entrainment programs.

Prayer Meditation

One of the oldest and most successful meditation methods, this is one of the least understood meditations. Sometimes called "state meditation" this meditation becomes most visible when the practitioner uses prayer, music and devotion to enter states of prayer ecstasy that engender direct contact with the divine.
